Why include protein with breakfast?

Why did brüst put protein in coffee, you ask? Because it helps provide your body with the fuel to power your day. From my experience protein is often one of the major nutrients missing in our morning meal. It’s easy and convenient to grab a piece of fruit or bagel to go alongside our coffee, sometimes even nothing at all! However, these meals can leave our energy levels crashing long before noon because they’re missing one simple nutrient, protein. Protein has many functions in the human body, most notably providing satiety to your body. Protein takes longer to digest and can help stabilize blood sugar and energy levels and keeps us feeling full until our next meal.

Foods that are often recognized for their protein content include fish, chicken, eggs, yogurt, tofu, nuts, soy milk, beans and legumes. But sometimes it can feel overwhelming knowing how to include these at breakfast – brüst is a quick and easy grab ‘n go breakfast option that will help keep your energy levels up and help you meet your health and wellness goals. Other well-balanced ideas include:
- Greek yogurt parfait
- Eggs and whole-grain toast
- Oatmeal cooked with milk and topped with nuts

Breakfast doesn’t need to be complicated, keep it simple and add protein to your breakfast to help start your day right!
